Shahid Abbasi becomes Interim Prime Minister of Pakistan!!

Shahid Abbasi becomes Interim Prime Minister of Pakistan!!

Shahid Abbasi to be interim Pakistan PM, will later hand over reins to Nawaz Sharif's brother Shahbaz

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will take over from ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in an interim capacity. The 58-year-old Abbasi's name was arrived upon during a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).
The meeting was chaired by Sharif, who had to step down from the post of prime minister after the Pakistan Supreme Court disqualified him from office after finding that he lied about his assets.
Speaking after the meeting, Nawaz Sharif that his brother Shahbaz Sharif will eventually succeed him in office. However, Shahbaz cannot become prime minister right away as he is not a member of Pakistan's parliament. And so, Abbasi, until recently the petroleum minister in Nawaz Sharif's cabinet, will hold fort, serving as prime minister for 45 days after which Shahbaz is expected to take over.
According to Pakistani media, Shahbaz is expected to contest for parliament from Nawaz Sharif's now-vacant seat, which is a PML-N stronghold. Once in parliament, Shahbaz can easily become PM thanks to the PML-N's strong majority which will allow the party to elect him into office on its own.
Shahbaz is currently the chief minister of Pakistan's Punjab province and will have to quit that post to take over as prime minister.
In his first public comments since Friday's Supreme Court ruling, Nawaz Sharif said his "conscience is clear". He also stressed that the court did not prove any corruption or siphoning off public money after months of investigation stemming from the revelation in last year's Panama Papers leaks that his children were linked to offshore companies.
Sharif's dismissal has sparked uncertainty at a time when Pakistan was enjoying a rare period of relative stability, with militant attacks slowly declining and economic growth hitting its highest pace in a decade.

India thrash Sri Lanka by 304 runs, post biggest victory in Test away from homeye.

India thrash Sri Lanka by 304 runs, post biggest victory in Test away from homeye.

Galle, Sri Lanka: India captain Virat Kohli completed his 17th Test ton on Saturday and then let his bowlers demolish injury-hit Sri Lanka to claim a 304-run victory inside four days in the first Test.
It was India's biggest winning margin in Sri Lanka and showed just why they are the top-ranked Test side in the world.
Set a daunting 550 to win, Dimuth Karunaratne made 97 for Sri Lanka, but after his departure in the final session their hopes sank in Galle.
With allrounder Asela Gunaratne and stand-in captain Rangana Herath unable to bat through injury, Sri Lanka called it a day with eight wickets down and the total on 245.
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin each took three wickets for the dominant tourists.
India lost the opening match in Galle two years ago, but went on to take the series 2-1 and then return to number one in the Test rankings in the following months.
"We are a more experienced side now. We are playing more consistent cricket and that shows," Kohli said after the big win.
The captain reached an unbeaten 103 at the start of the day before declaring India's second innings on 240-3. He then gave his bowlers the job of grinding down the home side.
Karunaratne's stubborn 208-ball innings took him past 2,500 career Test runs but there was not enough support at the other end.
Mohammed Shami forced Karunaratne's fellow opener Upul Tharanga to play the ball onto his stumps for 10. Danushka Gunathilaka went for two, giving an easy catch to Cheteshwar Pujara at short square leg two overs later.
Kusal Mendis made a promising 36 before he made the thinnest of touches to wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. The TV umpire gave it out after a Kohli appeal.
Former Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews, with two to his name, gave the easiest of catches to Hardik Pandya as he skipped down the wicket looking for a big hit.
Wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella made 67 and his 101 partnership with Karunaratne raised Sri Lankan hopes for a while, before he was also caught behind.
That brought in Dilruwan Perera, top scorer in Sri Lanka's first innings with 92. But Karunaratne paid the price for a rare rash shot and was bowled by Ashwin, who is now on 275 Test wickets.
Nuwan Pradeep and Lahiru Kumara went within three overs, leaving Dilruwan stranded on 21.
India's brilliant first innings -- in which Shikhar Dhawan scored 192 and Pujara 153 -- broke Sri Lanka on the first day.

I had informed Kapil bhai about Comedy Dangal before taking up his show, and have already done 6 episodes. So it's not that I am quitting TKSS for Comedy Dangal. In fact, I am loving the appreciation that I am getting on this show. I wouldn't have quit TKSS, if I would have not signed Comedy Dangal. 1- Paul McCartney
In the spring of 2014, Paul McCartney was forced to cancel a tour of the Far East when a virus landed him in a Tokyo hospital. However, it wasn’t his worst experience in Japan. On Jan. 16, 1980, he was busted at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport for trying to bring a half-pound of marijuana into the country.
After nine days, the Japanese government felt that the former Beatle had learned his lesson. He was released on Jan. 25 and deported with no charges filed. Upon returning home, he made the decision to break up Wings.
Coincidentally, on Jan. 15, 1984, almost four years to the day later, McCartney and his wife Linda were again arrested for marijuana possession while on vacation in Barbados. They were both fined $100 and released.
2-Jane Fonda
The actress had just finished working on Klute - hence her distinctive haircut - when she was arrested at an airport in Cleveland on November 3, 1970.
The customs officers wrongly accused Fonda of drug smuggling after finding vitamins labelled b, l and d (breakfast, lunch and dinner) in her bag.
Known for her political activism, her arrest over something so innocent as vitamins was a sign of the paranoia of the time.
At the time, the actress was on her way back from speaking at an anti-Vietnam war fundraiser in Canada.
3-Tim Allen
Caught with 1.4 pounds of cocaine, pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges. He spent two years and four months in federal prison following his arrest for drug trafficking in 1978.

Transgender is no longer allowed to serve in the army: Donald Trump

President Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday that transgender people will no longer be allowed to serve in the U.S. military “in any capacity” ― a stunning reversal of an Obama-era policy that affects thousands of service members.
Trump claims he made the move after consulting with military experts, despite the Pentagon lifting the ban on transgender service members in 2016 after an exhaustive review of its military read“Our mission is to defend this country, and we don’t want barriers unrelated to a person’s qualification to serve preventing us from recruiting or retaining the soldier, sailor, airman or Marine who can best accomplish the mission,” then-Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said. “We have to have access to 100% of America’s population for our all-volunteer force to be able to recruit from among them the most highly qualified — and to retain them.”iness policies.

India beat Australia by 36 runs to win Women's World Cup semi-final.

India beat Australia by 36 runs to win Women's World Cup semi-final.

India will play England in a World Cup final at Lord's

What a day. What a performance. What a contest that will take place this Sunday. Harmanpreet Kaur played one of the great innings: destructive, breathtaking, and full of class. She also had one of the most epic meltdowns when she thought her partner had been run out, which was less elegant, though I enjoyed the passion therein.
171 from 115 balls, though she also finishes with an injury. Was limping between the wickets, and didn’t field. I think the injury cae when she hit the ball into her own foot. Whatever the case, she pointedly avoids the questions from Alison Mitchell about whether she’ll be fit for the final.
Her effort catapaulted India to 281-4 in a reduced innings of 42 overs. The next best score was Raj’s 36. But the economical Australians were mashed. Schutt went at 7 an over. Jonassen went at 9. Villani bowled a single over for 19.
The Aussies were never really in the hunt. The top three went down for 15 between them. Villani then made a fine counterattacking 75 from 58 balls, but was starting from so far behind the pace that Australia needed twice that much. It was an unfair ask. Then Blackwell went huge at the end, but the game was already so far gone that it would have been an utter miracle to haul it back in with one wicket in hand. Pandey and Goswami were vital, where India’s spinners were expected to be key.
So the World Cup final is between India and England, two teams flying high.

Pentagon urges India and China to reduce tension through direct communication.

Pentagon urges India and China to reduce tension through direct communication.

The Pentagon has encouraged India and China to engage in a direct dialogue free of any “coercive aspects”. “We encourage India and China to engage in direct dialogue aimed at reducing tensions and free of any coercive aspects,” Gary Ross, a Defense Department spokesman, told PTI.

The month-long India-China border standoff in the Sikkim sector is seen as part of same Chinese coercive tactics to change the status quo. India has taken a strong stand against such a Chinese move. National security adviser Ajit Doval heads to Beijing to attend a meeting of BRICS later this month. During his visit, Doval is expected to talk with his Chinese counterpart on this issue.

Responding to questions, the Pentagon refused to take sides on the issue. “We refer you to the governments of India and China for further information. We encourage India and China to engage in direct dialogue aimed at reducing tensions. We are not going to speculate on such matters,” Ross said when asked if the Pentagon fears escalation of tension between India and China.

Early this week, a top Pentagon commander told lawmakers that China is exploiting its economic leverage as a way to its regional political objectives.
