Karni Sena calls for Bharat Bandh on `Padmavati` release date

Karni Sena calls for Bharat Bandh on `Padmavati` release date

Amidst the whole fuss over the release of 'Padmavati', Rajput Karni Sena has called for Bharat Bandh on December 1, the date when Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum-opus is slated to release."We won't let 'Padmavati' release. We have given a call for Bharat Bandh on December 1," Lokendra Singh Kalvi, Rajput Karni Sena President told ANI on Saturday.Kalvi also said they are going to hold various programmes in different cities.
"Being the 37th descendent of Rani Padmavati, it would be unfortunate for us to see her as the lover of Alaudin Khilji. When, in January, Bhansali said he would show us the film before release, why is he not doing that? Now, we don't want that as the whole nation is waiting for the release to be stalled," he added. He further said, "Who is Deepika Padukone to say that the film is definitely going to release on December 1? I, on behalf of Rajput Karni Sena and all social organisations, assure them the film will not release."
The Rajput Karni Sena also held a press conference here on Saturday where Kalvi said this matter is not limited to just the Rajputs but it's about the respect of all women. The Karni Sena activists have upped the ante against 'Padmavati' by staging protests in various parts of the country, covering Bangalore in the South as well.

Tumhari Sulu trailer: Watch Hawa Hawai Vidya Balan in a sweet comedy

Tumhari Sulu trailer: Watch Hawa Hawai Vidya Balan in a sweet comedy

We may have never noticed it before, but Vidya Balan has a really sultry voice. Don’t believe us? Just check out the trailer for her upcoming comedy, Tumhari Sulu.
The trailer for the film was released on Saturday and features Balan as a ‘saree wali bhabhi’, Sulu, who wishes to be more than a housewife. She lives with her husband and a son, but wants to bring more spice in her life. A regular winner at competitions hosted by the local radio station, she is not happy with just the pressure cooker she has won. She wishes to be an RJ.

Neha Dhupia plays the head at the radio station and while she isn’t too sure about the demure middle-aged woman’s ability to host a radio show, she has the idea to let her have the late night slot. And to everyone’s surprise, Sulu is custom made for the job. With a voice as smooth as honey, she becomes an instant hit with the listeners. However, her new-found success isn’t all good news. Her husband complains of her not giving the family enough time anymore and a montage teases more problems that she would have to tackle.
The trailer’s biggest pull is, of course, Vidya’s performance as an ambitious and lovable woman, the bright, colourful look of the movie and lastly, the brand new version of Hawa Hawai. The song, originally picturised on Sridevi in Mr India, gets a new life with slick beats and it fits the temperament of the movie just right.
The film is directed by Suresh Triveni and will release on November 17.

Here's 'an epic love ballad' Ek Dil Ek Jaan' from 'Padmavati'

After its first song 'Ghoomar', which went on to register over 25 million views, the makers of epic period drama ''Padmavati' have unveiled the second song- 'an epic love ballad', titled 'Ek Dil Ek Jaan.'
Featuring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, the song encapsulates the romance shared between the two characters, Rani Padmavati and Maharawal Ratan Singh.
The song has been composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and sung by Shivam Pathak, with lyrics by A M Turaz. It promises to offer audiences a soulful melody that strongly reflects loyalty and an unbreakable bond of love.Deepika said, " Shahid and I have known each other for so many years but a special film like Padmavati brought us together onscreen. His contribution to this film is irreplaceable and amazing."

"It was so important to have a very good actor with a strong screen presence and massive popularity to add to this film. Shahid Kapoor brought that with him," she added.
The 'Bajirao Mastani' star and the 'Rangoon' star have been paired opposite each other onscreen for the very first time in 'Padmavati.'The film is based on Rani Padmini, a legendary Hindu Rajput queen, mentioned in Padmavat, an Avadhi language epic poem, written by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi in 1540.The movie, which also stars Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, is all set to hit the theatres on December 1.
